The National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has backed  the recent EEP project of the Ministry of Works, Power and Housing. The protect  which is to cost #10billion  and tagged Energising Education Programme, EEP.
This is not a mere solar-powered streetlight project but a scheme designed to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to 37 Federal Universities and seven Teaching Hospitals across the country, which we consider as students of oriented as it will also help to extend electrification to rural  areas in which the institutions are located.
The Programme will enable the institutions benefit from world-class training schools, for the training of students in renewable energy and also help institutions management to save huge funds been spent on power.
The implementation of this programme is led by the power sector, through the Rural Electrification Agency, the Vice Chancellors and the  Ministry of Education have signed onto this as a critical investment in the education sector.
We however consider the Deliberate attempt to water down the significant impact this Programme will have on the enhanced education of Nigerian students as unpatriotic as it seeks to prevent the socio-economic development of our nation.
Conclusively NANS is calling on the senate to approve  this laudable  project,  if $1B can be approved for  insurgency how much is then #10B for the education sector. We will not hesitate to take to the streets if the needful is not done soonest.
Signed
