Football fans seem to have momentarily forgotten that these are the two EPL teams whose coaches for so long been trolled and criticized for not winning any trophies in England. But with this final, one of these two “trophy-less” coaches will be finally emerging with a trophy for his respective club for the first time ever; not just any trophy but the biggest trophy of them all!
Winning this prestigious trophy most times usually involves a “twist of fate”. To imagine that Tottenham has reached this final without signing even a single player is quite extraordinary in itself. Tottenham has been without its topscorer and best player in Harry Kane, but yet has performed beyond expectations.
In likewise fashion, Liverpool with a string of injuries, including injury to arguably it’s best outfield player has made it to the final, after being written off by many after losing the semi-final first leg 3-0 to Barcelona. The historic 4-0 resurrection will forever remain a legendary feat in football. But the ultimate question remains whether Liverpool can get it done in the final where it matters most. Failure will seem like it was all in vain.
Tottenham will not be too much disappointed if they should fail to win the trophy, after starting off the competition with relatively modest expectations. However, it would be heartbreaking for Liverpool, especially after its great exploits this season in the league and UCL to end up without winning a single trophy.
Who claims the UCL? Your guess is as good as mine.
